Examples of my work

17th century Queen Ann period oak bureau bookcase



The bureau would require repairs to the crassness from shrinkage spilts to broken mouldings, the draws would need some attention to worn runners , the bureau would be lightly cleaned to remove some surface dirt before being waxed only, with replacement keys being made to fit the locks



ANTIQUE MAHOGANY GILLOWS CARD TABLE



The table needed taken apart and the top re-glued, the loose legs were removed and repaired before being glued back in place, the base was cleaned and revived then waxed using my own beeswax. The top was stripped removing the modern varnish and was brought in to match the top and French polished. Inside a new green Basie was fitted.



Antique 18th century walnut bracket clock



The clock come in for restoration after being damaged through a house fire , the case was taken apart , needed rebuilding with new mouldings. The case was re veneered in English walnut burr. The case was then French polished and waxed The movement was sent away for restoration and but back in after the case was finished restoration



18th century william and mary period bureau



The bureau needed attention to loose and blistered veneers, some mouldings were broken and missing and these were replaced. The draw runners were worn along with the carcass and needed some attention. The top was blistered and water damaged . Once all repairs were carried out the bureau was cleaned and revived colouring in new repairs.



Antique Georgian 1750 mahogany chest on chest



The chest on chest would need attention to draw runners and carcass runners , draw fronts would need repairs to draw front moulding and veneers . Around the carcass would need repairs to rails and some damage to feet and cornice mouldings . The chest on chest was cleaned and revived and waxed only to keep it original finish .



marquetry clock



The case needed new cross grain walnut moulding making , hand made barley twist columns , veneer repairs , marquetry made and fitted, the case was then French polished and waxed .




Antique 18th century georgian Marquertry chest



The Marquertry secretaire chest come in for restoration, the top had water damage to tops, the Marquertry had blistered and peace’s missing in places . The Marquertry was repaired along with some veneer than it was cleaned and French polished . Inside the draw it was finished with a green Basie.



Antique George III secretaire bookcase



The mouldings were repaired and some of the draw runners were worn and required replacing . Then the bookcase was cleaned and French polished




Walnut console tables



The walnut console table was built for a private client to their specific measurements . The table was constructed with central draw and from deal (pine) and veneered in European timbers only. Mainly using European walnut and boxwood



lincolnshire 18th century mule chest



The chest needed attention to blistered veneers around the draw fronts, loose moulding around the carcass were re-glued and repaired. Once all repairs were carried out the chest was cleaned to remove smoke and water damage before beeswax wax was applied.



Georgian linen press



The linen press come in for restoration. Repairs to veneers around the draw fronts and rails. Repaired broken and replaced missing mouldings . The linen press was then cleaned and revived the original finish , before being waxed only.



mahogany George III 1760 chest on chest



The chest had damage to the veneers and mouldings around the carcass repaired, the draws needed attention to the draw front from broken mouldings and veneer chips. The carcass and draw runners were worn and would require attention with some new wood be replacing the worn out timber. The chest on chest was then revived and waxed only with the new repairs being coloured out.



17th century Marquertry walnut oyster veneered lace box



The lace box come in for some conservation and restoration. It needed some loose Marquertry stabilising and glueing back down. Some shrinkage was stabilised before the box was cleaned and waxed only.



camphor trunk



The trunk needed some new brass straps and corners to be made and fitted. The trunk was cleaned to remove water marks and dirt. The trunk was then French polished and waxed afterwards.



Antique longcase clocks



Often carrying repairs out to clock cases from 16th century onwards From complete rebuilding to the cases . Loose veneers. Missing mouldings. Broken glass . Re veneering woodwork and French polishing.



1850 VICTORIAN BURR WALNUT CENTRE TABLE



The top of the table required attention to blistered and chipped veneers and loose joints also needed to be rectified before the table was revived and French polished.
